This piece began as a challenge to step outside my usual subject matter and explore something new. I wanted to experiment with light, transparency and colour, capturing the way sunlight passes through the delicate poppy petals and makes their reds and oranges almost glow.
The title, Where the Light Finds You, came from that idea. Rather than the flowers reaching toward the light, I loved the thought of the light finding them, illuminating each petal and revealing details that might otherwise go unnoticed.
For me, the name also gives the painting a quieter meaning: that sometimes the most beautiful moments happen when warmth and light find us unexpectedly.
